World Mental Health Day -10th Oct

🧠 WHAT is World Mental Health Day?

World Mental Health Day is an international day of awareness dedicated to raising understanding about mental health issues, reducing stigma, and promoting mental well-being for all. It’s coordinated by the World Federation for Mental Health (WFMH) and supported by the World Health Organization (WHO).

Each year has a specific theme (e.g. “This year’s official theme is “Access to Services — Mental Health in Catastrophes and Emergencies.”)

WHY is it Important?

  1. Breaks the stigma: Mental health is still misunderstood and often surrounded by shame or silence.

  2. Raises awareness: Educates people about conditions like depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and more.

  3. Promotes access to care: Many around the world lack access to basic mental health services.

  4. Encourages early intervention: Talking about mental health helps people seek help sooner.

  5. Builds community support: A day to show solidarity and compassion for those struggling.
